Consumer health data privacy

Additional protections for sensitive wellbeing data.

This separate draft describes Deacon Wellness’s intended treatment of consumer health data that may fall outside HIPAA but remain protected by federal or state law.

Pre-launch draftThis document establishes the current U.S.-only product direction. It must receive final legal review and an effective date before Deacon Wellness accepts public subscriptions.

Consumer health data Deacon Wellness may collect

Depending on what you choose to share, this may include information about mood, stress, sleep, relationships, communication difficulties, personal goals, perceived wellbeing, safety concerns and the inferences required to provide the feature you requested.

Sources

Deacon Wellness expects to collect this information directly from you and from your interactions with Deacon Wellness. The initial release will not import medical records, insurer records, wearable data or clinician files.

Purposes

Consumer health data is used to provide the wellbeing experience you request, maintain continuity, suggest optional practices, create your personal plan, route urgent-safety language appropriately and secure the service.

Optional product-improvement research

Research sharing is off by default. If you opt in through Settings, limited excerpts from conversations saved after that choice, including saved voice transcripts, may be sent to OpenAI to identify general communication improvements. We omit account identifiers and try to remove names and contact details, but cannot guarantee complete anonymization. The app owner reviews general suggestions before they are used in later conversations; this feature does not retrain the underlying model. Research is funded by the company and does not reduce your customer allowance.

You can turn sharing off in Settings without affecting your service. Your conversations will be excluded from new research samples. A review already underway may finish, and previously completed research and general improvements may remain.

Sharing

Information may be processed by contracted providers supporting hosting, storage and AI features only to deliver Deacon Wellness. The planned launch does not sell consumer health data or share it for targeted advertising. Marketing and referral systems must remain separated from private conversations and wellbeing records.

Your controls

The launch service will provide a process to confirm whether Deacon Wellness holds consumer health data about you and to request access, correction, withdrawal of consent or deletion, including an appeal path when a request is denied. Identity verification may be required to protect the account.

Consent

Deacon Wellness will request consent appropriate to the data and feature before collecting consumer health data. Consent can be withdrawn, although doing so may prevent features that depend on personal continuity from operating.

Launch readiness

A prominent homepage link, monitored request address, response procedure, retention schedule and state-specific review must be completed before Deacon Wellness is offered to the public.
